About Community Radio
Comm(UNITY) Radio is a dynamic platform created in collaboration with Nunavummi Disabilities Makinnasuaqtiit Society (NDMS) and designed by and for Indigenous, Black, and Racialized people with disabilities (IBRpD). Building on the “for the people, by the people” tradition of community radio, Comm(UNITY) Radio offers 45-minute episodes that showcase the voices, talents, and stories of IBRpD. Through accessible and powerful storytelling, Comm(UNITY) Radio aims to uplift, unite, and inspire both IBRpD communities and their allies.

On excellence, Assimilation and Impact: A story of resilience and Triumph
As a young girl Cindy immigrated to Canada flipping her world on its head. A new country, new language and a new name. Like many Indigenous, Black and racialized youth Cindy was faced with the pressure of assimilation. In this episode Cindy shares her story of resilience and being the first in her family to break educational and employment barriers.
Mics at the End of the Tunnel: Unconventional Perspectives from the Media Jack of All Trades
What can’t Ben do? Public speaking, music creation through Hip Hop & RNB, comedy and adrenaline junkie. In this episode Ben talks about his many different flavours of life, creating a “funky cool” individual. Using comedy to change perspectives Ben hopes to create spaces in which we can think and talk about disability in a different way. Ben talks about media, adrenaline, social work and his organization The Bright Side Scope.
