The IDEA Project
Our inaugural project is based on an IDEA. The Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Accessibility (IDEA) project is a research initiative that will produce innovative and practical toolkits on race and disability across Canada. It will build capacity within the disability sector and create innovative solutions to support accessibility and inclusion across the country.
-
An inclusive society is one that recognizes and embraces the lived realities of racialized people with disabilities.
-
A diverse community is one where histories of colonization, enslavement and racialization are recognized and validated.
-
An equitable society acknowledges that racialized people with disabilities have been historically excluded from opportunities for advancement in all areas of society and that proactive measures to redress this are necessary and important.
-
An accessible community is one that proactively removes barriers and actively creates systems, processes, programs, services, and environments that are barrier free.
