About IDEA Toolkits
The journey towards building an inclusive workplace culture: Understanding race and disability
The IDEA toolkits are designed to support organizational leaders to facilitate meaningful dialogue on the intersection of race and disability. These toolkits support leaders to move through a six-stage journey towards building an inclusive workplace. Use these tools to build your leadership and confidence on Inclusion, Diversity, Equity & Accessibility (IDEA) in your organization.
Step 1: Cultivating Buy-In
Create a courageous space of curiosity to explore the intersections of race and disability.
Step 2: Listening & Learning
Listen and learn from lived experiences of Indigenous, Black and racialized people and with disabilities to understand the structural factors that contribute to these experiences.
Step 3: Reviewing & Reflecting
Review your policies, procedures and practices and reflect on the strengths, gaps and needs of your organization.
Step 4: Building Capacity
Research existing frameworks to be able to adapt these for your organization's needs. Create opportunities for collaborative learning within your organization in the process.
