Location:  Remote
Hours: 35 hours per week
Salary: $63,700 - $72,800 per year + benefits depending upon experience

Background:
Under the auspices of DEEN Support Services, Race and Disability Canada works to address the lived realities of Indigenous, Black and racialized people with disabilities living in Canada. Our projects focus on building organizational capacity on the intersections of race and disability and cultural understandings of disability through education and training initiatives that are grounded in community-based research.

Position Description:
We are looking for a Project Leader who has strong project coordination and management skills with experience managing diverse teams, preferably with expert knowledge on the intersections of race and disability. The ideal candidate will be highly organized with experience using project management tools and the ability to break down large tasks into micro-tasks that are clear and actionable. With expertise using MS Office and G-Suite applications, the ideal candidate will have experience leveraging technology to lead and support our virtual project teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive project plans with clear, actionable steps.

  • Co-supervise project teams to ensure tasks and initiatives are completed on time. 

  • Support diverse project teams with varying working styles with empathy, support and accountability measures to ensure collaboration and alignment on goals and deliverables. 

  • Provide feedback on the design and delivery of training initiatives and educational resources on the intersections of race and disability. 

  • Work with the National Directors on reporting requirements to funders. 

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree in relevant subject including Critical Disability Studies, Human Rights, Equity, Sociology, Disability Studies, Public Policy and/or a combination of relevant education and experience including at least 1-2 years of management experience

  • Extensive knowledge of the intersections of race and disability, including social, political, legal, and economic influences

  • Demonstrated project coordination and scheduling skills with strong working knowledge of MS Office and G-Suite Applications

  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to break down large tasks into clear and manageable steps.

  • Highly organized, process-oriented, and ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

  • Strong team management skills with experience leading teams utilizing a holistic, trauma-informed, anti-racist, anti-ableist approach. 

  • Attention to detail, and a proactive, solutions and process-oriented mindset.

  • Ability to identify knowledge and skills gaps, demonstrate self-awareness, and take initiative to learn and improve.

  • Strong written skills and a persuasive and passionate communicator

  • Ability to learn new concepts and apply them strategically to meet project objectives 

  • A strong team player with a balance of humility and confidence. 

  • Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Lived experience at the intersections of race and disability.

  • Training or previous experience in project management/leadership in the nonprofit sector.

  • Familiarity with AI tools and technology to enhance project outcomes.

  • Experience managing equity-focused or disability rights projects.
